Video for the track that gave its name to the artist’s second album is Amy’s first to join the “Billions Club”, the platform’s ‘billionaire’ video club
Amy Winehouse joined the Billions Club of YouTube. The singer, who died in 2011 from an overdose, has just surpassed the one billion views mark in a single video with “Back to Black”.
Directed by Phil Griffin, the 2007 video depicts the funeral procession of a love. Originally recorded on Abney Park Cemeteryin Londonit had to be edited after the singer’s death: at one point, she appeared paying her respects to a tombstone with the epitaph “RIP the Heart of Amy Winehouse” (“Rest in peace, heart of Amy Winehouse”).
Third single from Amy’s self-titled album, “Back to Black” was written and co-produced by Mark Ronson and openly inspired by the artist’s troubled relationship with her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil. Back to Blackthe album, won the Grammy 2008 for Best Pop Album, Best Album and Song of the Year, for “Rehab”. Amy would also win the award for Best Artist that year.
