A shooting interrupted the duo’s concert Maiara and Maraisa In Palmas, Tocantins, in the early hours of this Friday the 6th, during the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State. A 17-year-old teenager was shot and died.
In a note to Estadaothe Government of Tocantins lamented the death and informed that teams from the 1st Specialized Division of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP Palmas) and technical experts were on site to collect information and traces that could help in the investigation of the case.
The confusion began when an off-duty plainclothes police officer became involved in an argument with two men during the country music show. One of the men grabbed the officer’s gun and fired, hitting him in the ribs and hip.
As a result, the young man – who was apparently not involved in the argument – was shot in the head and died on the spot. The police officer was injured and taken to Palmas General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. A couple were also grazed, but without serious injuries.

Maiara and Maraisa had to be quickly removed from the stage. Moments before the commotion, Maraisa had been propositioned by Fernando Moco on the show stage. OR Estadao contacted the press office of the two compatriots, who informed them that no member of the team was injured. Through a note, Maiara and Maraísa also regretted what happened. “It is very sad to witness scenes like these. A risk for those who work, like us and our team, and above all for people who have left their homes to have fun and are so vulnerable.”

“The Government of Tocantins clarifies that in the early hours of this Friday the 6th, during the artistic program celebrating the anniversary of the State in Praça dos Girassóis, a fight occurred which resulted in the death of a 17 year old teenager. The Government of Tocantins regrets the death with great regret and informs that he is making every effort to clarify all the facts and hold the perpetrator of the murder accountable.

What is known so far is that an off-duty plainclothes police officer was at the show and was involved in an argument with two men. In the confusion, one of the men took the police officer’s gun and shot him. The police officer was shot twice, once in the rib and once in the hip. In the confusion, a 17-year-old teenager was shot in the head and died at the scene. A couple was reportedly injured by a bullet, but they are okay.
The teenager’s body was sent to the Palmas Medical Institute and, after autopsy tests, was released to his family.
The injured police officer is currently undergoing surgery at the Palmas General Hospital.
The 1st Dhpp is still carrying out the investigation, but so far the shooter has not been identified.
Finally, the Government of Tocantins reiterates its commitment to the safety of the residents of Tocantins and reiterates that it will spare no effort to clarify the case and hold the culprit accountable. It should be noted that a large contingent of police forces was present on the site of the Fair, greater than that used during the carnival celebrations, and that no other type of accident was recorded.
Since the early hours of the morning of Friday the 6th, Governor Wanderlei Barbosa met with the security forces and established that all assistance be provided to the teenager’s family and that today’s security be further strengthened. “We are saddened by what happened but we underline that it is an isolated event considering that no other event was recorded and I have decided that everything possible will be done to clarify what happened”, he concluded.
