Until then, Sheeran had not commented on the news. Now, in an interview with GQ, he not only confirmed the information but also gave some details of his initiative. “I wouldn’t say it’s a crypt. It’s a hole dug in the ground with a piece of stone on top, so when the day comes and I pass away, I can be buried there.”

As Ed told the GQ, most of the loved ones he lost in his life were cremated. So, he never felt that he would be able to mourn their deaths in the same way as a funeral.
