Will Whitesnake return to the stage? David Coverdale clarifies

Band canceled performances on their farewell tour after the singer’s health problems – but don’t know if they will even resume activities

More than a year has passed since the Whitesnake suspended the dates of the farewell tour, originally announced in 2021. With the singer’s health problems David Coverdalethe band doesn’t know if it will even return to the stage.

In an interview with the Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk (via Blabbermouth) last Wednesday (11), Coverdale talked about the future of Whitesnake and gave an update on his health status. The band’s last show was held at Hellfest 2022in France, in June last year.

Well, my band and I are in contact all the time. There is still a Whitesnake and there are still offers coming. However, I cannot commit to anything until my physical appearance recovers. The last thing I want to do is go on tour and go through what happened last year, come home with my tail between my legs. It was heartbreaking.”

Even though the Whitesnake resume the farewell tour, Coverdale assured that it is still a distant future – as the singer suffered from “two torn rotator cuffs, which would certainly compromise my performance. Plus the arthritis… all this kind of thing is happening.”

The singer also expressed solidarity with colleagues such as Steve Tylervocalist of Aerosmith, who also had to postpone the shows on his farewell tour for health reasons. β€œIt’s so horrible getting old and having this responsibility of trying to be the best so as not to disappoint anyone. I know how he feels and I sent my regards to him through mutual friends.”

Whitesnake kicked off their farewell tour on May 10, 2022 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The European tour featured special guests Europe and Foreigner, and also marked the debut of the band’s new members: keyboardist, guitarist and backing vocalist Dino Jelusick, and bassist Tanya O’Callaghan.

A few months later, the group had to cancel the European leg of the tour and withdrew from the North American tour alongside Scorpions, due to the health problems of lead singer David Coverdale, diagnosed with a trachea and sinus infection.
