Everyone expected Taylor Swift’s movie to be a phenomenon, but no one expected box office revenue of this size. In its first weekend alone in the United States, it grossed $93 million. Considering that the film cost less than $20 million and did not require large investments in marketing, thanks to Taylor’s popularity and social media presence, it will certainly be one of the most profitable productions of 2023.
Many people even saw it twice over the weekend. And many will see it several times, partying in cinemas. They are the swifties, the singer’s most passionate fans. “The Eras Tour” is already the biggest of all time in terms of revenues. So far it stands at $780 million, surpassing stars the size of Beyoncé and Elton John.
In Brazil, the film will premiere on November 3 in a large number of theaters, including Imax. It will compete with Taylor herself, who will play here later this month, all sold out or in the hands of touts charging a fortune.
