Roger Waters begins series of shows in Brazil this Tuesday, 24th, in Brasília; Know what to expect from the presentations
Five years after the tour Us + Them, Roger Waters returns to Brazil with shows that end his career on stage. Although this type of boast has already been made by artists such as Ozzy Osbourne – with the No More Tourswhich gained a sequel —, Waters assures that “this is not a test”.
The ex-pink Floyd launched, at the beginning of October this year, a reinterpretation of the The Dark Side of the Moonbut the focus of This Is Not a Drill it will not be the new version of the album.
Roger Waters begins the series of presentations in the country this Tuesday, 24th, in Brasília. Next, Rio de Janeiro (October 28), Porto Alegre (November 1), Curitiba (4), Belo Horizonte (8) and São Paulo (11 and 12) will be included. Tickets are available in all cities.
Know what to expect:
Setlist
Song that previously closed the shows, “Comfortably Numb” should open the performances of Roger Waters in Brazil. “Time” and “Mother” may only remain in the memories of those who attended one of the musician’s performances in 2018. Wish You Were Here (1975), however, should be more privileged this time: “Have a Cigar” and “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” (Waters has varied the parts he plays) entered the setlist.
In total, fans are expected to watch around 20 songs live, in a show that will probably exceed two hours in length and will be divided into two acts. Among the songs, some from the artist’s solo career will be present, such as “The Bar” and “Déjà Vu”. But the public doesn’t need to worry about what to do with their cell phones during the more unknown tracks, as Waters will not deviate much from The Wall (1979) and The Dark Side of the Moon (1973).
Audiovisual and protests
Roger Waters promises to deliver an audiovisual spectacle, balancing music, visual effects and scenery very well. In 2018, for example, an inflatable pig was thrown into the audience and some people even took a piece of it home. Furthermore, the prism, used in physics classes and on the cover of The Dark Side of the Moonwas formed by lasers on the fans.

This year, the public will naturally be more prepared to deal with public activism. Waters. During his last visit to Brazil, he made clear criticisms of the former president Jair Bolsonarowho was about to be elected, and the former president of the United States donald trump.
Already at that time, Roger took a stand against anti-Semitism. However, the protests did not alleviate accusations that went against what he defended at shows. In the midst of the war between Israel and Gaza, the allegations should not inhibit the artist, who, as he has done several times, will defend Palestine, at the same time as he will stand against anti-Semitism.
