Gospel singer found dead and burned

Singer Sara Mariano, a popular figure in the Bahian gospel community, was found dead this Friday (27/10), with her body charred, on the banks of BA-093, in Dias d’Ávila (BA), near Camaçari. The location is known as the spawn point.

According to the local newspaper Bahia no Ar, the singer’s husband, Ederlan Mariano, recognized the body at the scene, but official confirmation of the identity will only be possible after the forensic examination.

In addition to her importance in music, Sara Mariano was also a pastor. She and her husband ran TV Shalom, a channel where evangelical content was shared.

Sara’s husband and producer, Ederlan Mariano, told TV Bahia that his wife was last seen on Tuesday evening. According to him, a security camera captured the moment she left the couple’s house and got into her car to go to a women’s meeting in the metropolitan region of Salvador. However, he claims he did not know who was driving the vehicle.

He also recorded some videos recording his journey, including passing through toll booths.

The husband claims he did not know where the women’s meeting would take place. He said he registered a police complaint regarding her disappearance on Thursday (26/10). The couple had been together for 13 years and have an 11-year-old daughter.

The perpetrator and motivation of the crime are being investigated by the Civil Police.

Sister is suspicious: “It doesn’t work”

Soraya Correia, the singer’s sister, also announced the pastor’s death on social media. “I fight for my sister,” Soraya wrote on her Instagram profile. “Why, my God? She’s so beautiful and she loved her daughter,” she added.

In an interview with TV Bahia, Soraya revealed that her mother spoke to Sara on Monday (10/23) and the singer said she had something “very serious” to tell her, but did not elaborate on the matter.

“There are many things that are wrong, that don’t add up,” said the singer’s sister, without providing details.
