Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Anything’ plays in ‘Priscilla’ trailer
The new film Sofia Coppola depicts the wedding of Elvis Presley from the perspective of the ex-wife, Priscilla Presley. In 2022, Elvis — another production about the so-called King of Rock — arrived in theaters with the aim of telling his story in the way the public could read it on Wikipedia.
A Elvis Presley Enterprises seems not to have been happy with the undertaking of Coppola and, therefore, prevented the singer’s songs from serving as a soundtrack for the film’s feature film. A24. Solving the problem, the director included her husband’s band Thomas Mars, Phoenixon the project to perform some tracks.
Another solution was to turn our attention to artists worthy of Priscillaas Sharon Van Etten. “Anything” contains one of the film’s trailers. Watch:

Music
Sharon Van Etten released his first album, Because I Was In Lovein 2009. Then came Epic (2010), Tramp (2012), Are We There (2014), Remind Me Tomorrow (2019) and We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong (2022).
Over the course of more than a decade, the singer went from a shy young woman to a woman who was certainly confident and aware of the quality of her own work. In celebration of 11 years since the launch of Trampfor example, Sharon decided to publish the music video for “Serpents”, recorded in 2012, putting some fears aside.

“I was very insecure about being the focus of a video. Maybe I wasn’t ready to face my demons,” she reported on Instagram. “I could write and perform songs about them, but facing them and baring my soul in front of the camera was something entirely different. When I looked at myself, I felt uncomfortable in my own skin. I chose not to release the video.” The email of Naomi Yangwho rediscovered the recordings, made Van Etten change your mind:
As I read the email from Naomiduring the pandemic, and watching this younger version of myself, I felt empathy for the emotions I was trying to express in the song and video.
“Seventeen” ended up becoming one of his biggest hits. The song seems to revisit the period when Sharon he was just 17 years old: “I wish I could show you how much you’ve grown,” says one verse. At that age, she found herself in an abusive relationship with another musician.
While the ex-boyfriend went out to do shows, Van Etten dedicated himself to secret compositions. She did not receive support from her partner, who found the songs too personal to share. “He asked me not to play until I could write in a way that people wouldn’t know about my life” (via The Guardian). The intimacy revealed by the singer in her songs is precisely one of the factors that attract fans.
Present on the most recent album, “Mistakes” attests to how Sharon Van Etten has overcome the barriers of past traumas. “Even when I make a mistake / It’s so much better than this,” she sings.
Movie theater
The name of Sharon it is not only seen in composition credits. The artist was part of the cast of Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always (2020) and The OAfor example.
In Before the end (2021), she sings alongside Zoe Lister-Jones. The apocalyptic film also stars Cailee Spaenywhich embodies Priscilla Presley in Priscilla. In this way, the circle of this matter seems complete, but, before closing it, it is worth adding that Van Etten appears at the end of one of the episodes of Twin Peaks: The Return (2017), series of David Lynch It is Mark Frost.
