Anitta repeated her award for best Latin artist at the EMA (Europe Music Awards), MTV’s European awards. After winning last year, she won again on Sunday (5/11), beating artists like Rosalía and Shakira. The Brazilian expressed her gratitude on her social media: “I have no words to thank for the BEST LATIN award at the EMA. Much love and gratitude to everyone.”
Originally scheduled to take place in Paris, the ceremony was canceled due to the climate resulting from the conflict between Israel and Palestine and following bomb threats at the event. As a result, the results were simply announced on social media.
The awards highlighted Taylor Swift, the night’s biggest name, who won three statuettes, including Artist of the Year. The awards also recognized the solo work of BTS’ Jungkook in the Best K-Pop Artist category.
The list also included country awards, and the winner in the Best Brazilian Artist category was rapper Matuê, beating Luísa Sonza and Anavitória, among others.
