Taylor Swift arrived in Brazil this Thursday afternoon (11/16) to begin the six performances of her tour “The Eras Tour”. The singer will receive a special tribute to Christ the Redeemer to celebrate her arrival in the country.
The singer’s fans had been asking for days for the screening in Brazil’s main tourist attraction, a request that ended up motivating the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes. “We will have Taylor Swift duly honored, her arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Welcome, Taylor Swift. And be happy Swifties,” he told G1.
But there’s a problem!
The rector of the Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer, Father Omar, has issued a challenge in exchange for the fans’ tribute to be held there. By 9pm this Thursday (16/11) the population will have to collect more than 20 thousand units of panettone and mineral water to help people in vulnerable situations. The initiative provides help to more than 120 charities and thousands of homeless people.
If the goal is reached, Taylor Swift will be honored with a t-shirt seen in the music video for the song “You Belong With Me”. The design will be designed by artistic director Gabriel Dadam, who is also a member of one of the singer’s Brazilian fan clubs.
Taylor Swift will begin her performances this Friday (11/17) in Rio de Janeiro, where she will perform two more shows on November 18 and 19. Next, the singer will perform in Sao Paulo on November 24, 25 and 26. All tickets are sold out.
