The best-selling author was executive producer of all boys film, but for In the summer I got pretty, which was his first book series for YA, serves as a showrunner. While talking to Han, he talked about how Netflix movies have influenced his latest project of him.
I’d say [I learned] so much so that he had never been on a movie set before All The Boys. I think I’ve learned that cinema is a team effort and that you have to surround yourself with people who do their job really well, who know things you don’t know. And that, I think, makes everything you do so much better.
Just a few years ago, Han had never set foot on a movie set before. after participating in the Netflix trilogy with Lana Condor and Noah Centineo , received practical training on what enriches a project. when working In the summer I got prettyHere’s how he felt the knowledge influenced the creation of the series:
I love that the show we did was the show I wanted to do and that everything from choosing the music to sitting in the editing area and being a showrunner there are so many different stages of the storytelling. You have the first stage, which is like the words on the page, and then there is another stage where you take all these shareholders as shareholders I guess to help you tell the story, who is a great production designer and a great costume designer, hairdresser and makeup artist, director of photography, all those different roles. And then the next step is to see it come to life and be there for production. But the final stage is also another, in which you find facets of the story that you may never have seen before. And you are like digging moments as you browse through the images.
Jenny Han recently launched her production company called Jenny Kissed Me, which In the summer I got pretty occurs at the bottom. The series follows a teenager named Belly (played by newcomer Lola Tung) who returns to her family friends’ beach house for her annual summer vacation, only this summer she finds herself in a love triangle she hasn’t. much importance.
It’s great to see Jenny Han take control of her own words in TV form, especially since she’s one of the few Asian American authors adapt a popular book into a big project. As Han shared with Gossipify, he really worked on all the elements to make the series, more than a decade after the book’s initial publication in 2009.
