Famous music video for ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ surpasses one billion views and joins YouTube’s special club
The big hit of Foster The People “Pumped Up Kicks” reached one billion views on YouTube. Now, therefore, the music video is part of the platform’s Billion Views Club alongside tracks such as “Bring Me To Life”, by Evanescenceand “Roar”, by Katy Perry.
Although danceable, the song deals with a dark topic: school massacres in the United States. The most famous case that happened in the country was the Columbine Massacre, on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School. After killing 12 students and a teacher, the students who committed the crime took their own lives.
“Pumped Up Kicks” was the first single from Torches (2011). The song was written by the vocalist Mark Foster while he worked at a jingle production company. The success came after he published it for free download on his website, back in 2010. The track was already playing on the radio even before the release of Foster The People release the first album.
