Harry Waters worked as Roger Waters’ touring keyboardist for 14 years; he was fired before the start of Us + Them
Harry Watersson of Roger Watersone of the founders of pink Floyd, recalled when he was fired from his father’s tour in 2016 and opened up about that moment. Currently, he plays in a cover band for the legendary progressive and psychedelic rock band.
During an interview with Rolling Stone USA, Harry revealed how, at the end of 2016, he received the news that he would no longer need to play the keyboard on his father’s tour. “I got fired, it was very unfortunate,” he recalled. I think he just wanted a change of blood, something new, something fresh. I’m not sure of his exact reasoning, but all but two people were fired.”
But the other guys who got fired weren’t his kids, so it was doubly painful for me.
Before being fired for Roger Waters, Harry worked on the artist’s tours for 14 years and left before the tour began Us + Themwhich passed through Brazil in November 2023. Today in the formation of Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigadehe does a complete cover of Animal (1977), tenth studio album by pink Floyd.
Furthermore, Harry accepted a proposal to do three shows with Brit Floydband that pays homage PinkFloydwith two former members of the group: Durga McBroom (vocals) and Scott Page (saxophone). “I’ve never met any of them, but I’m going to show up and play. I’ve been playing this music for about 30 years,” she said. “I think we’ll be fine without rehearsal. I think we all know the material pretty well.”
