Billie Joe Armstrong battles addiction in new Green Day video

Green Day return to the pop punk that made them famous. Out this Thursday (12/7), the song “Dilemma” contains the dynamics and energy of their best songs of the 90s, sounding like a mix of Ramones, Beatles, Nirvana and the style consecrated by the group in their main successes.

The launch is accompanied by a music video, which transforms singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s outburst about his struggle with addiction into images. The video shows his difficulty in staying sober in the rock environment, surrounded by alcohol and drugs, even after dedicating himself to rehabilitation. Giving in to every temptation, he comes to a bad end, vomiting in a bar, falling on stage and ruining the family’s Christmas.

The video is directed by Ryan Baxley, who also worked on the band’s previous video, “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” released in October.

The two tracks are part of the trio’s upcoming studio album, “Saviors”. According to the band, the production is an invitation to understand the culture and legacy of its more than 30 years of existence. The album will be released on January 19th.
