Banned from using his name MC K9 sues Dennis DJ

After being convicted by the Court of São Paulo for copying the music of a colleague, Dennis DJ is sued again, this time by Everton funk player Ribeiro dos Santos, the MCK9in an “accounts collection action” and “documents exhibition action”.

According to the editorialist’s information Daniele Nascimentofrom the newspaper O Dia, the singer claims that Dennis, through the companies 2N Produções Artísticas and Galerão Records, did not pay digital rights for musical partnerships and also registered the stage name MC K9, without the artist’s knowledge.

The musician asked the court to find out exactly how much was earned from his collaboration with the DJ, which lasted from 2009 to 2012.

According to the documents, in one of the cases Dennis did not appear within the court deadline authorized by the judge, thus becoming “in absentia”, when the defendant is officially informed of the case and does not defend himself.

The plaintiff then only awaits confirmation from the judge that his lawyers are authorized to estimate the amounts owed. If the magistrate confirms this estimate of the numbers, MC K9 will be able to charge Dennis and Galerão the amount calculated as due.

With the outcome of these two processes, the author will also be able to verify the need for a new process for compensation for moral damages and other material damages. This will depend on the documents that will (or will not) be presented by the defendant, as well as on the judge’s approval of the financial project on which the compensation claim will be based.
