It inspired a band’s song that became a hit on social media
“Wake up Pedrinho, today is the championship”, is an excerpt from a song that, in 2022, conquered social media. The person who inspired the lyrics of the group Jovem Dionísio was Pedro Domingos do Prado, who died this Monday 25th, at the age of 65. He was found lifeless in the hotel room where he lived, in Curitiba, Paraná.
The story of the song “Acorda, Pedrinho” is that Pedro lived sleeping in a bar and when he woke up he played billiards. The situation became music and last year elevated the band Jovem Dionísio to the most listened to and viral band on the Internet and music streaming platforms.
What emerged as an internal joke also gained versions in French and Japanese, such was the success of the song.
On social media, the band mourns the loss of their friend. “Today Bar Dionisio, Jovem Dionisio, Juvevila and all those who were lucky enough to meet him one day, mourn the loss of such an irreplaceable person. We will never forget how important he was. Thank you Pedrinho. We will sing your name with everything the love you gave us. One day we will meet to finish that game of pool,” the post reads.
The band Jovem Dionísio is made up of Bernardo Pasquali (vocals), Bernardo Hey (keyboards), Gabriel Mendes (drums), Gustavo Karam (bass) and Rafael Dunajski (guitar). The friends from Curitiba met Pedrinho in a bar, known by the owner’s name, Dionísio, in the Juvevê neighborhood.
Pedrinho will be buried in the Municipal Chapel of São Francisco de Paula and the burial is scheduled for Tuesday 26th at 4pm in the Pinhais Ceremonial Complex.
