“Aquaman 2: The Lost Kingdom” reached number one at the box office when it debuted in Brazilian theaters over the Christmas weekend. However, as happened in the US, revenues were much lower than expected. According to unpublished data from Comscore, the latest film from the former DC Films grossed R$ 11.6 million and was seen by 527,000 people in five days, between Thursday and Monday (12/25).
The first “Aquaman,” released in 2018, debuted with an audience of approximately 1.7 million viewers in four days. In short, more than triple the number of spectators and with one less day in cinemas. Revenue at the time was R$31 million.
This week’s 2nd place went to “Renaissance: A Beyoncé Film”, following the American singer’s surprise visit to Bahia. Documentary about Beyoncé’s recent tour in European countries and the United States, it was seen by 131 thousand people and earned R$4.78 million.
“Wonka” closes the podium. In her third week of performance, she earned R$3.49 million and was chosen by 165 thousand viewers.
A Brazilian surprise
