Report names cause of Taylor Swift fan’s death in Rio

Last Wednesday (27), the necropsy report was released revealing the cause of death of Ana Clara Benevidasthe fan of Taylor Swift died after feeling ill during the American singer’s first show in Rio de Janeiro. The young woman suffered thermal exhaustion caused by the heat.

Taking place on November 17 at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Engenhão, in front of an audience of around 60,000 people, the city faced an extreme heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 40ºC.

According to information from G1, the expert concluded that the young woman was exposed to diffuse heat – that is, that there was extreme heat in the environment -; that the exposure was indirect; that the heat source was the sun; that the clinical evolution indicates thermal exhaustion with cardiovascular shock and severe lung damage, progressing to sudden death.

It is worth mentioning that at the time, the T4F released a note saying that Ana Clara “She was promptly attended to by rescuers and taken to an intensive care ambulance, accompanied by doctors to hospital so she could receive treatment.” The company reported that in 40 years of operation it has never been involved in a “a tragic episode like the one that happened in Engenhão, due to a climatic factor”.
