Forró icon, Nattan announced on Tuesday (2/1) that he will be away from the stage indefinitely. The singer, who had canceled some shows at the last minute, revealed that he has been battling an attack of esophagitis for three months.
In a video published on Instagram, the singer said that he was diagnosed with an infection caused by the H. Pylori bacteria and that due to the treatment he had problems with his vocal cords. “I’m having a hard time with my voice,” he tearfully complained.
“About three months ago I was diagnosed with H. Pylori, I started a very intensive treatment with very strong antibiotics. 14 days of medicine, and these medicines gave me a lot of reflux,” he explained with a noticeable hoarseness. The artist also explained in detail the reasons that led him to cancel his latest performances.
“The medications I was taking for reflux I couldn’t manage while on antibiotics for H. Pylori. This caused a lot of edema and swelling in the vocal cords. This is one of the links in this chain, there are several causes . So I ended up hurting myself at various points in the shows I was doing in each state.”
Nattan added that the beginning of the performances took place normally and that, after 30 minutes of the show, there was no more singing. “We were a little scared, because we didn’t know what was causing all this. It’s very painful for a singer who wants to sing on stage, to express himself, not to be able to sing. I left very sad,” the artist said.
Finally, Nattan underlined the need to be absent for a period of time: “This short break will be necessary. This is the time to stop, to take care of myself, to be together with the people and doctors who are accompanying me for really experience seeing the treatment at your fingertips.” I want to return to you safe and sound, when my voice is 100%.”
Official note
Nattan’s team provided more details on the singer’s health status in a note sent to the press. Check it out in full below.
“On medical and speech therapist recommendation, Nattan will step away from the stage for a few days to concentrate 100% on his health. The singer has been treated for an infection (H. Pylori) with strong antibiotics for the last three months which caused a severe reflux. Medicines to relieve this reflux could not be administered during the treatment of H. Pylori, as a result her vocal cords were damaged and edema appeared.
The consequence of this condition is severe hoarseness and aphonia in case of intense and prolonged effort. The break is necessary for full recovery. Nattan is grateful for the understanding and welcome that this moment requires and, soon, he will return to the stage with all his energy, even and especially in the cities where the shows had to be postponed.”
