Preta Gil celebrates cancer remission during a mass in Bahia: “Give thanks for my life”

With his father Gilberto Gil, the artist also declared that he celebrates not only his life, ‘but that of everyone’

Preta Gil celebrated the remission of bowel cancer during a mass in Bahia this Friday the 5th. He shared the moment on social media, which took place next to his father, Gilberto Gil, and the family. Additionally, the artist said it was a day to be grateful for her life.

“A day to be grateful for my life together with my family, my friends and so many people who love me! I am a lucky woman to be able to be here in Salvador, on the first Friday of the year, to celebrate life, not only mine, but everyone’s!”, he wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

On Instagram Stories, Preta replicated a post that said “her cure has arrived” on her illness. “It was a beautiful Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Father Lazaro Muniz, in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos! Receiving his blessing is very gratifying! Thanks to my friend Badá who organized everything and to everyone present! ‘Faith does not it usually changes,’ he added.

In December, Preta Gil announced the end of her treatment for bowel cancer. “My cancer treatment ends after surgery to reconstruct my intestinal tract and reverse the ilestomy! I am still going through the rehabilitation process and will remain under medical care for 5 years, where I will have my routine follow-up , but that is common for cancer patients like me,” he wrote at the time.
