The first song of Yellow, Startleads the way with the agogô – a candomblé instrument – which governs the sound of the piece, as well as including the participation of Pastoras do Rosário and pastor Henrique Vieira. “It has a special syncretism, which is characteristic of blacks from the South-East, especially in São Paulo”, says Emicida. Now, to conclude the working day, the artist also used references linked to religiosity.
Gira is the name given to the collective rituals of religions of African origin, in which songs, dances and prayers are practiced to establish a moment of connection with spiritual entities. Hence the name of the tour: AmarElo – The Final Tour. “Everywhere in the world we’ve gone with this show, people have achieved a beautiful kind of transcendence. I’ve been moved by each and every one of them. I write dreaming of things I’d like to see in the world, and when this synergy happens, I feel like People tell me that they too want to be part of this dream. And they really are.”shares Emicida.
Throughout the tour, the experience of Yellow it will be enriched by visual elements (such as an immersive scenography), special appearances and other surprises. Songs like the title track, Ismalia AND Natural order of things will be included in the repertoire, in addition to the songs that have marked Emicida’s career.
The work released in 2019 (and immortalized in a Netflix documentary) had its first live performances the same year it came into the world, but they had to be cut short due to the pandemic. Back on stage, the repertoire – a refuge for many – has acquired immeasurable dimensions. The show has been performed 120 times, touring to 9 countries and 55 cities. And it ended up becoming a sort of cult for the public, such was the depth and intensity of the exchange between the artist and her fans. The farewell to this tour, therefore, could not be a clean break.
