Rio city mayor blocks payment to Lexa, says singer performed ‘incomplete show’ at Carnival

A note published on the Barra do Piraí municipality profile claims that Lexa “did not respect her fans during her performance at BaDoPi Folia 2024, performing a show lasting only 40 minutes.” The statement states that “all commitments were honored with all artists” and that the singer had received a cashier’s check before going on stage.

City Hall also said Lexa would not serve fans. “Here is our total dissatisfaction with the singer, who did not even serve her fans, loyal consumers of her music and who filled the field of the Royal Sport Club, on this last day of Carnival, staging the shortest show of the city’s history,” he said.

Lexa says she received the stage 50 minutes late

In stories posted on Instagram, Lexa claimed to have arrived at the venue 30 minutes early “even in such a hurry” and claimed that the stage was delivered to her 50 minutes late. “I arrived at 10.30pm, I was supposed to come in at 11pm. The stage was only vacated at 11.50pm,” she said.

The singer also commented on the part of the town hall note that said she would not assist her fans. “Of course I got it [fotos com as pessoas]. Including the mayor, who was the first to enter the locker room,” he underlined.

Lexa said she asked to meet fans herself because of the delay. “I said, ‘Guys, I need to take pictures with people, because I have a life after here. I have other things to do,'” she reportedly said.
