Brazilian Myra Carvalho has been detained by British police since the end of January after sending more than eight thousand letters to Harry Styles. The 35-year-old woman risks legal action for stalking the singer.
Myra has been staying since December in a hostel in Earls Cout, west London, England, so she can forward messages to the singer within a month. Some cards were handwritten and others were made online, as well as having wedding themes.
According to The Independent newspaper, the Brazilian woman’s family was unaware of the intentional trip of the young woman, who also has a partner in Brazil. She was arrested in late January on charges of “harassment amounting to stalking”, which caused Harry Styles distress as his daily activities were affected by her letters.
Myra Carvalho attended the hearing on Tuesday (20/2) via video call from HMP Bronzefield women’s prison, where she is being held. Her parents were in court during the session and were thrilled to see their daughter. The Brazilian’s lawyer, Clementine Simon, said she had been suffering from a “manic episode” and questioned whether the young woman was fit to face legal action.
Judge Karim Ezzta sent the case to the court on April 19.
