The duo Simon & Garfunkel was successful during the 1960s
The documentary series In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simonwith a release date scheduled for March 17th, will explore the six decades of the career of Simon and his journey to creating his latest album, Seven Psalms.
The trailer for the production led by Alex Gibney suggests that the friendship of Simon with Art Garfunkel will also have space. Old images from the times of Simon & Garfunkel pass while Simon it says: “Artie, that was a good friendship. We thought we should express what our generation felt.”
The duo known for the hit “The Sound of Silence” split in 1970, after the release of Bridge over Troubled Waterr (1970). Simon gives clues as to why he decided to pursue a solo career: “What I’ve learned is that when you find something that produces a feeling of peace or joy, you should try to hold on to it. It’s like ecstasy. That’s music to me.”
The portrait of Ol’ Blue Eyes made by Gibney is ultimately what led him to make a film about Simonas he explained to deadline (via People) after the premiere of In Restless Dreams at the Toronto Film Festival last year: “[Paul] contacted me, he saw the film about Sinatra and wondered if I would be interested in making a film about his entire career. And, of course, I was interested.”

“But the gift was when he called me and said, ‘I’m making a new album. Would you like to come watch me make it?’ And that was a gift because it was him in the present working on something,” he continued. “I could see him working on it. And also, because it’s a meditation on belief, life and death, it seemed appropriate to go back and forward in time to earlier moments in his career.”
