Gilberto Gil: What is the singer’s most played song?

In honor of Gilberto Gil’s 80th birthday, Ecad listed the most played songs by the MPB icon

“Let’s Run (Give Me Your Love)” is the most played song by Gilberto Gil in Brazil. The musician turns 80 this Sunday, the 26th, and boasts a career of great hits in MPB, in addition to outstanding compositions.

Survey was done by Ecad (Central Office for Collection and Distribution), holder of one of the largest music databases in Latin America. Reproductions on radio, TV, internet and live music in the last 10 years were considered.

“That hug”, “The novelty”, “Don’t cry anymore” and “Stage” complete the ranking of the five most listened to. Gil he also stands out as a composer, and among the most recorded songs by other artists are: “Lamento sertanejo,” “Aquele abrazo”, “Palco”, “Expresso 2222” and “Vamos fuga (give me your love).”

We analyzed 784 songs and 2,529 recordings in the database of the Ecad. More than 70% of the singer’s income came from the TV, radio and concert segments, according to the survey.
