Autumn has arrived and it can bring good news! The “heat bubble” that caused high temperatures and thermal sensations in the Center-South region of Brazil is expected to lose strength from this Wednesday (20). The forecast of National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) indicates that the heat wave ended this Monday (18/3). As a result, heavy rains are forecast for the entire country.
Despite the arrival of autumn, temperatures will still remain relatively high, with a gradual decrease in heat throughout the week. Meteorologists point out that although the peak of the heat wave has passed, significant cooling is not expected at this time.
Second Olivio Bahiameteorologist at Inmet, although the heat wave has ceased, it does not mean that temperatures will drop sharply. The expectation is that climate change will begin to be noticed from Thursday (21/3) in parts of Brazil, with a sharper drop predicted for Friday (22/3).
Natálio Abrahão Filhometeorologist at Climate, explains that the atmospheric pressure in Paraguay, responsible for maintaining the heat in the Center-South of Brazil, should move away, allowing the return of rain in the South and Southeast regions. However, the heat will still persist as El Niño will remain active in the Pacific Ocean until mid-April.
With the transition to autumn, the first days of the season are expected to maintain characteristics similar to summer, with temperatures still high. According to Olívio Bahia, from Inmet, although the season is officially starting, it is common for the first 30 to 40 days to still resemble summer in terms of climate.
