You’d better call Saul’s production designer about the death of the actor’s mid-season finale before the actor

The main spoilers for the latest episode of Better Call Saul’s “Plan and Execution” are below, so read at your own risk.

if you are a You better call Saul fans like me, then chances are you’re still reeling from the heartbreaking events of the midseason finale. The episode that closed the first half of season six was filled with huge moments, and fans were back then finished with a series of questions . One thing that became incredibly clear after the episode was released was the fate of Howard Hamlin, who sadly died at the hands of Lalo Salamanca. One could certainly quickly wonder how an actor handles the disappearance of their character, although you should also consider what the crew knows in advance. Interestingly, the show’s decorator was aware of the development even before series star Patrick Fabian.

Ashley Marsh worked as a production designer / set buyer at You better call Saul since the show’s debut in 2015, so he’s been present at every major moment of the show, including character deaths. Howard Hamlin is perhaps the most tragic of them all and that’s honestly enough to create one. I want to stop seeing the breaking Bad prequel . Marsh was also sad to see Howard leave so abruptly, a sentiment she expressed during our recent chat. While she revealed that she knew the fate of the character before Patrick Fabian, she also explained whether she influenced his and his team’s approach to creating the settings inhabited by the late lawyer:

I mean yes. I probably knew that before Patrick. The production called and said, “Hey, if you find it, please don’t say anything.” Obviously I will not do this because we have signed a non-disclosure agreement. But I don’t know how long they waited to let him know, because it makes him change his mind. And that changes for me because I feel that things need to be thought about a little bit more. Because you don’t want to put anything in there that looks promising … but you don’t want to induce it either.

It’s a hard tightrope to tread, to say the least. On the one hand, you don’t want the character’s surroundings to be too cheerful, as if to suggest that things will be okay. However, you also don’t want to lean too far into a sense of dread to make the lawyer’s fate obvious to onlookers. But ultimately Ashley Marsh and her co-workers made it, because I don’t know how many people could have predicted what Howard would expect from the jump.

Before Howard’s death, fans got to see him in a few places that were personal enough to him. One of those places was Hamlin’s estate, which viewers could only see from the outside in season five. While she was staying in his posh apartment, it was revealed that he was living in the pension due to marital problems. Throughout the season, audiences were also able to see him in his office, where he mainly met his private investigator. There was a lack of warmth in both places, and this was especially true of Hamlin’s residence as he felt cold. However, there was no hint that the nightmare of Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler’s existence would go away.

So far, the last season of You better call Saul He presented two huge victims. In addition to Howard Hamlin, Michael Mando’s Ignacio “Nacho” Varga also put his foot down. Well, more precisely (and tragically), after he shot himself in the head revealing to Héctor Salamanca that he caused his stroke . Like Howard’s death, it was a sad moment, even though Mando played it so masterfully.

The critically acclaimed drama may not have finished choosing characters. Given the Breaking Bad timeline, we know some won’t die (yet), but others may still meet a gruesome end. I am more worried about Kim Wexler , as well as series co-creator Peter Gould. At this point, fans may want to hear Ashley Marsh’s comments on Howard and turn to well-established clues to gauge whether their favorite characters will make it out alive.

You better call Saul The second half of the sixth season will begin airing to the AMC July 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC under the TV program 2022 . Those who need to catch up before watching the latest season can stream others with a netflix subscription .
