The singer of the group Molejo is hospitalized and is fighting a tough fight against a rare cancer in the groin region
The office of Anderson Leonardo, singer of the group Molejo, reported this Friday (26/4) that his health condition had worsened. The musician is still hospitalized for treatment of a rare cancer in the intensive care unit of the Unimed Hospital, in the west of Rio.
In a conversation with Quem magazine, councilor Andréia Assis complained that “Anderson’s conditions are unfortunately very serious”. This week, doctors said there was no expectation of discharge from hospital after he felt a drop in blood pressure and returned to intensive care.
Blood donation
Several artists are launching appeals asking for blood donations to help in Anderson Leonardo’s care. However, the pagodeiro’s team did not reveal the reasons why he needs to receive blood transfusions.
Donations to Anderson Leonardo can only be made in the state of Rio de Janeiro, the capital or the city of Petrópolis. Among the locations, donors can look for the Blood Serum Bank (Centro do Rio); Home Shopping (Barra da Tijuca); Posse Nova Iguaçu Hospital or Santa Teresa Blood Bank (Petrópolis).
Anderson Leonardo’s health
Anderson Leonardo was diagnosed in October 2022 with groin cancer, a rare type of disease, located in the groin region. The artist was considered “cured” in January 2023, but returned to treatment in May of the same year.
In February 2024, singer Molejo was admitted to a private hospital in Rio de Janeiro, where he underwent immunotherapy and painkillers. He was discharged from hospital in March after undergoing a “hypogastric nerve plexus block procedure for pain”, which was successful.
However, the disease progressed and Anderson was hospitalized again in serious condition a few days later. He was unconsciously directed to the red room of Unimed-Rio Hospital, when the family was called for a serious conversation.
“Anderson has undergone all the treatments and they have not given the expected results because it is an extremely rare cancer on which a large clinical study has not yet been carried out. He is being treated to cure the tumor, which is very aggressive,” he explained Andreia Assis, press officer of the samba singer.
