All this equipment will be transported to Copacabana, in the Southern Zone, using a fleet of 30 trucks. The venue is preparing to host the big stage that will mark the end of the pop star’s Celebration Tour, scheduled for next Saturday, the 4th.
See what the structure of the show will be like:
- 200 team members will occupy 90 rooms of the hotel where the singer will stay;
- 270 tons of equipment will arrive with 3 cargo planes;
- 3 trucks will transport part of the equipment to the hotel, where 3 gyms will be set up;
- 27 trucks will go directly to the stage set up on Copacabana beach;
- The stage will have 24 meters of front and 821 square meters of surface area, double those set up so far on the tour;

- For the show, 45 wardrobe trunks will be used, containing, for example, 40 pairs of boxing gloves for one of the choreographies.
This will be the fourth time Madonna will perform in Brazil. She has already enchanted Brazilian audiences with ‘The Girlie Show’ tour in 1993, the ‘Sticky and Sweet Tour’ in 2008 and the ‘MDNA’ tour in 2012.
This time, her performance on the sands of Copacabana will be the pop diva’s only show in all of South America, promising to take Brazilian fans on a unique journey through her greatest hits, both on the beach and in the comfort of home.
The show in Rio de Janeiro will be the culmination of the world tour and the largest of the artist’s career. North American DJ Diplo was announced as a special guest.
As usual, Madonna will not only offer a musical show, but a complete visual experience, from scenography to costumes, full of glamor and innovation.
Operational plan for the show
The Municipality of Rio presented the operational plan prepared for the singer’s show. A task force of around three thousand municipal officers from 11 agencies will act to ensure public order, traffic control, cleanliness, emergency care and the well-being of Rio’s residents and visitors.
According to the city administration, an audience of 1.5 million people is expected to flock to the beach for āThe Celebration Tour in Rioā event, which celebrates the pop diva’s 40-year career.
Operation Madonna expects Copacabana beach to have a similar setup to the one carried out during the New Year’s Eve party. The stage where the artist will perform will be set up in front of the Copacabana Palace. The show will start at 9.45pm and last two hours. The party will open with a DJ performance, starting at 7pm.
There will be 18 sound towers spread along Copacabana Beach to ensure the sound reaches all audiences. 550 health booths will be made available along the entire coast of the neighborhood.
The state government also presented the security operational plan, which envisages the presence of 3,200 soldiers, 64 vehicles and 65 monitoring towers in the region.
Additionally, transverse roads along the waterfront will be closed with fences and access controls. There will be 18 checkpoints and searches with facial recognition. Copacabana metro stations will be searched with metal detectors.
Drones for facial recognition and 12 additional cameras for facial recognition will also be used. Furthermore, the Military Police announced the creation of a command and control center in PraƧa do Lido to operate during the show. The Civil Police will have 1,500 officers available.
