Green Lantern: is the screenwriter of the animated series ready for a revival? This is what DC talent says

In 2019, six years after Cartoon Network’s cancellation, young justice was reported as DC Universe Original and can be viewed today with an HBO Max membership. It was a notable example of how a beloved series can return after being absent for so long, but it’s not the only popular DC animated TV show. of the early 2010s that many fans were hoping to see a revival. There was also support for Green Lantern: the animated series do the same, and Ernie Altbacker, one of the show’s lead writers, is eager to make it happen.

Speaking with Ernie Altbacker about the return to Green Lantern mythology in the next DC movie Green Lantern: Beware of my power (with whom he wrote Spider-Man: the animated series‘John Semper), I saw how Green Lantern: the animated series celebrated its 10th anniversary last November and it’s been just over nine years since the show was canceled. Therefore, I asked if Altbacker was interested in joining a Green Lantern: the animated series waking up after all this time, and here’s what he had to say:

Yup! I still have my old Green Lantern ideas: The animated series, the characters I wanted to present or the stories I wanted to do. It would be great. I would like to do it or be a part of it. I haven’t heard anything, but even though he’s just a fan to watch, I can’t wait. Sooner or later they will.

Green Lantern: the animated series was released five months after the live action, directed by Ryan Reynolds The Green Lantern the movie is out. The TV show starred Josh Keaton as Hal Jordan, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kilowog, Jason Spisak as Razer and Gray DeLisle as Aya, and received a very positive critical reception. However, due to the film’s poor critical reception which negatively impacted toy sales, Cartoon Network canceled Green Lantern: the animated series after a single season of 26 episodes. Yet, all these years later, there have been fervent demands for the show to return as young justice era, and Ernie Altbacker (whose other DC-related credits include animation Injustice film and the Doctor whoShort film inspired by the DC Showcase Constantine: the house of mystery) would be a game for that, even if he only ended up watching it as a fan.

So what a second season would be like Green Lantern: the animated series to imply. First, Ernie Altbacker mentioned in our chat that they are bringing John Stewart, the third human member of the Green Lantern Corps into the comics. It should also be remembered that the young justice episode “Meetings on a Razor’s Edge!” strongly referenced Green Lantern: the animated series, including the presentation of Razer. However, young justice producer Greg Weisman said so Green Lantern: the animated series is an “adjacent” canon, which means that although similar events have occurred in the young justice‘s Earth with these versions of the Razer and Kilowog, we still haven’t picked up where we left off with the Razer of Green Lantern: the animated series. This is reason enough to get season 2 off the ground!

For now a good return for Green Lantern: the animated series it doesn’t seem to be in the cards, but if it changes, Gossipify will broadcast the news. For now, you’ll see how Ernie Altbacker handled a different kind of Green Lantern story when Green Lantern: Beware of my powerWho’s playing black adamAldis Hodge as John Stewart, is chosen by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment July 26.
