The singer of hits such as ‘Dreams’ and ‘Gypsy’ denied the possibility of the group returning without Christine McVie, who died in 2022
Fleetwood Mac fans have once and for all lost hope of a return of the iconic rock band responsible Voices (1977), considered one of the best albums in music history. That’s because singer Stevie Nicks, in an interview with the magazine Mojohe rejected any possibility of reactivating the group due to Christine McVie’s death.
“Without Cristina [McVie], it’s not possible,” he said. “There’s no way Fleetwood Mac will ever exist again. Without her, it simply wouldn’t work.”
When McVie left the band in 1998, the remaining members – Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham – continued as a quartet. McVie returned to the group in 2014, but four years later long-standing tensions between Nicks and Buckingham erupted and the group fired Buckingham.
In place of the guitarist and singer, they hired Mike Campbell, of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Neil Finn, of Crowded House, for a handful of shows between 2018 and 2019, in what was ultimately the last tour by Fleetwood Mac.
Nicks, 76, is currently touring the United States, where she performs classics from her solo career such as Seventeen year old edgeand hits from the band that made him famous, such as Dreams AND Gypsy.
