The song is the lead single from “143,” the singer’s first new album in four years.
Katy Perry is back on the music scene with the release of the music video for “Woman’s World.” In the video, released Thursday night (7/11), the singer appears as a pin-up girl on a construction site, brandishing a hot pink vibrator and pretending to urinate in a men’s urinal. After being crushed by a giant anvil, she wakes up with bionic legs in a post-apocalyptic world run by women and decides to recharge by climbing into a gas nozzle.
Influencer Trisha Paytas makes a cameo, pulling a massive monster truck with a rope before driving it with Perry in the passenger seat. Throughout the surreal video, Perry uses several products aimed at women, while singing, “This is a woman’s world and you’re lucky to live in it.”
Production and collaborations
Last month, Rolling Stone reported that Perry had recruited her former “Teenage Dream” collaborators Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Stargate for the new album, as well as a few others she hasn’t worked closely with in the past.
“Woman’s World” was produced by Dr. Luke, Vaughn Oliver, Aaron Joseph and Rocco Did It Again!, marking Perry’s first album preview in four years since “Smile,” which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in 2020. Dr. Luke’s choice to produce “Woman’s World” sparked controversy, as the song is about female empowerment, and Dr. Luke has been accused of sexual, physical and emotional abuse by his former artist, Kesha.
The artist is back producing new music after ending her Las Vegas residency and judging “American Idol.” She’ll be releasing her highly anticipated new album “143” on September 20. The number in the title is code for “I love you,” which was frequently used in pager messages in the 1990s.
