Before Janet Jackson became an artist and famous, her brothers sang in the Jackson 5, whose main talent was Michael Jackson.
Like this Michael Jackson and other brothers who are members of Jackson 5, Janet Jackson also started out as an artist as a child. Now, the singer has revealed how she “doesn’t remember being asked” if she wanted to be a star when she was a child.
During an interview with BBCJanet recalled the early days of her music career, as well as growing up with famous siblings and how she felt pressured to also enter the industry. According to the artist, her decision to have artistic work came about when her family discovered her talent, when she was 9 years old, after seeing a song she wrote.
Her father, Joe Jacksonencouraged her to pursue this career. “I recorded the drums, did the background vocals, sang and played everything,” she said. “I was so embarrassed. The studio door was open and Mike was listening, Randy I was listening, my father was listening… then my father said: ‘You’re going to sing.'”
“I said, ‘No, no, no, I want to go to college and study business law,'” she continued. She then commented on how “it was kind of hard [argumentar] because look where it got my brothers, so I said, ‘OK, I’ll try.'”
I don’t remember being asked. I just remember doing it.
