Firerose became an American citizen. Last week, the singer shared a video on her Instagram of herself receiving her new citizenship documents in Tennessee.

In the reel, the Australian also appears waving a US flag and then celebrating the achievement by eating ice cream with a candle on top. She wrote in the caption: “This incredible country has been my home for 17 years. I couldn’t be more thrilled to become an American citizen!”

Just seven months after the wedding, Firerose — whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges – It is Cyrus filed for divorce.

In an interview with Page Six (via People), Hodges stated that Cyrus imposed ‘strict rules’ on the relationship and that he tried to keep her isolated. Furthermore, sheadmitted that he “didn’t have the courage to leave.”

“Billy had very strict rules,” she told the magazine. “I didn’t have a car. I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and get my nails done once a month.”

Hodges said her ex-husband had banned her from receiving visits from relatives at their Nashville farm, where they lived, but she was allowed to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

“If I needed to send a message, I had to read it to him to get permission,” he said. “Same thing with email.”

Firerose further claimed that Cyrus verbally abused her, “screaming at the top of his lungs”: “He would scare me, yelling, ‘You stupid, dumb f*cking b*tch, crazy bitch. ‘ It was illogical, insane and terrifying.”

The singer fears that Billy will use events from her “dark years,” when she was not sober, against her during the divorce proceedings. “He is a very evil man,” she said.

Other side

Billy Ray Cyrus made similar accusations to Firerose. In a document supplementing the divorce petition, sent on June 17, he claims that his ex-wife “has been conducting a campaign of isolation” against him, prohibiting him from talking to one of his daughters.

In another document, dated June 24, Cyrus reveals that he was physically, verbally and emotionally abused by Hodges. He also denied her accusations.
