The work will be released in November; the first part covers the singer’s childhood and marriage with fellow artist Sonny Bono
The singer and actress Cher announced this Wednesday (24) his autobiographical book Cher: The Memoirwhich will be divided into two parts. The first will be released on November 19th and the sequel is expected to come out in 2025. The book will be published by the Dey Street Books imprint of HarperCollins.
“After more than 70 years of struggling to live her life on her own terms, Cher finally reveals her true story in intimate detail,” the publisher wrote in the announcement.
“With his characteristic honesty and humor, Cher: The Memoir traces how this diamond in the rough rose to prominence with no plan and little confidence to become the pioneering superstar the world could not ignore for more than half a century,” the statement concluded.
The first part of the book will cover the singer’s childhood as a dyslexic child in chaotic circumstances. The book also deals with Cher’s marriage to fellow artist Sonny Bonoas well as detailing “the highly complicated relationship that made them world famous but ended up tearing them apart.” The two married in 1964 and together starred in projects such as the pop duo Sonny & Cher and the program The Sonny & Cher Show. They divorced in 1974.
Cher: The Memoir It has been expected since 2017, when she first gave information about the initiative to write a memoir. On social media, the singer released today the cover of the first part of the work.

At 78, Cher has had a successful career. She is the only woman to top the Billboard charts for seven consecutive decades, and has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Cannes Film Festival award.
“Cher: The Memoir reveals the daughter, the sister, the wife, the mother and the superstar. It’s a very big life for just one book”, concludes the publisher.
