Singer Details Virus, Says He’s Recovered for Upcoming Performances
Ney Matogrosso revealed the illness that made him cancel a show in Penedo, Rio de Janeiro, at the end of July. The singer was already in the city when he started feeling ill and had to rush to the doctor: “I’ve changed color.”
“Already on the way [Penedo]in the car, I started to feel sick; I even said “to this car, I think I’m going to throw up”. I thought it was the curves of the road. I couldn’t throw up anything, that’s okay. Then I got to the hotel, had lunch and in the afternoon I went to the location of the show. My son… I was throwing up and I had diarrhea, but in an impressive amount”, he recalled in an interview with Quem magazine.
What happened
At the end of July, Ney Matogrosso was supposed to perform in Penedo, as part of the Sesc Winter Festival program, but the event consultants replaced him with Adriana Calcanhotto and justified the change by saying that the singer was feeling ill. At the time, it was known that it was gastroenteritis.
Ney Matogrosso was admitted to a health unit in Resende.
Recovery
The artist detailed the situation: “It was like that all night and, the next day, I woke up and I was the color of paper. So, I went to the hospital, they took blood, I took a serum – and then I changed color when I took the serum. Then I found out that it was a virus that was occurring where I went and in many other places. It was just that, a virus.”
Ney Matogrosso said he is already fine and that the health problem lasted only “three days, on the fourth day I was already very well”. After resting, the veteran is preparing for a show in Sao Paulo, next Saturday (8/10), where he will present an edition of Bloco na Rua.
“I don’t want to go into this with high expectations, but I’m already starting to feel uncomfortable about this presentation,” he joked.
