Disney Prepares Collection of Re-Recordings of Famous Songs Featuring Emo and Pop Punk Bands
Disney has released the first previews of the compilation “A Whole New Sound”, which brings together bands from the emo and pop punk scene in re-recordings of hits from their films. The first singles and music videos include versions of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King”, an original recording by Elton John, performed by Simple Plan, and “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid”, on the Nuova Gloria Ritrovata imprint.
Renowned bands in the project
The album, which will be officially released on September 6, features a strong cast. In addition to Simple Plan and New Found Glory, names such as Mayday Parade, Yellowcard and Tokio Hotel are participating in the project, bringing their unique style to the Disney classics. Mayday Parade, for example, performs “Remember Me” from “Hurray”, while Yellowcard provides its version of “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin”. In addition, the track “Go the Distance”, from “Hércules”, was covered by We The Kings, while “Surface Pressure”, from “Encanto”, was covered by Plain White T’s.
Panic! at the Disco and Frozen 2
This isn’t the first time Disney has collaborated with emo bands to reinvent their music. In 2019, Panic! at the Disco appeared on the “Frozen 2” soundtrack, performing “Into the Unknown” over the film’s closing credits. The band’s version became a hit, which may have motivated the current version.
Success Predictions
Previews of “A Whole New Sound” indicate that the collection has the potential to please both fans of Disney films and followers of the bands involved. With a modern and nostalgic touch, the album promises to unite the generations.
