Project conceived by the No Ar Coquetel Molotov festival features production by Benke Ferraz and supports new names in the city’s music scene
The festival Molotov Cocktail in the Air released this Monday (19) a collection and a documentary about the project Recife Music Incubator. Conceived by the festival and carried out by Coda Produções with support from SIC Recife, the initiative seeks to help new musical talents in the capital of Pernambuco.
Maya, Zendo, Siba Puri, Jogba and Maracatu Erê Nation were selected from more than 100 applicants who participated in an open online call last year.
Now, these five artists have had the opportunity to present new songs. The tracks were produced by Benke Ferrazguitarist of Boogarinsin partnership with Estúdio Móbile and with the participation of several other artists.
Incubator
Held between 2023 and 2024, the Recife Musical Incubator focused on training new talents in the city.
Throughout this period, the project provided participants with a process of mentoring, recording and monitoring. They had the opportunity to improve their skills and produce quality compositions for the national market.
Released on the 19th, the digital collection with the five songs and the documentary with the behind the scenes marks the end of this entire process.
The music incubator is about creating things and empowering the voice of those who have something to say. It’s a project that has really renewed my vision of music production and given me new energy. I hope it can do the same for the people who participated and also inspire those who watch the video,” said Benke Ferraz.
Meet the artists
The singer and lyricist from Recife Maya brings elements of trip-hop, electronic pop and alternative rock to her musical project. For the recording of Incubadora, she invited guitarist Carlos Filizola of the bands Guma and Teapot.
It was a huge honor for me to be able to be part of this project. I am very happy that everything went so smoothly and that it was also a special place for ideas to flow. This project is a kind of compass that, in addition to guiding us, reminds us how to follow this immense open sea of independent production”, reflects the singer.
Zendo began his career in 2022 and works with blends of pop with other genres, such as rap, R&B and brega/brega-funk. He had the collaboration of Dimitria and Superegotwo active names in the local authorial scene.

Singer, percussionist and art educator, Siba Puri develops an artistic work that is influenced by her grandmother, who created children’s songs about the enchanted force present in the earth and the stars. The artist combines the ancestral art of the Puri people with elements of Pernambuco and Jamaican culture, creating a link between territories and memories and breaking the borders imposed by the colonizer.
Contemporary Indigenous Music needs to occupy all spaces. I believe that the Incubator project can contribute greatly to the dissemination of this necessary movement.”
Jogba is a young talent on the Recife hip-hop scene and began exploring the world of rhymes at the age of 16. His lyrics are an authentic reflection of his journey. Kildare Birth and Emerson Andrade were the musicians who participated in Jogba’s recording for the track produced in Recife Music Incubator.
I see the Incubator as a chance to expand my reach to a wider audience, helping to put my favela on the cultural and musical map. I’m excited for this journey and to see how this opportunity can impact not only my career, but also my community,” said the singer.
Representatives of Pernambuco’s popular culture and ancestral heritage, the Maracatu Erê Nation It emerged in 1993 as a literacy and awareness-raising tool for children at CEPOMA – Mailde Araujo Popular Education Center. Formed by children and young people from the community, the entity seeks to stimulate education. Since its formation until now, Nação Erê has continued to bring the culture of Pernambuco and spread Afro-Brazilian music to various parts of Brazil.
