The musicians address the topic – which has been a point of attention for internet users – in recent releases
“Disclose tiger, does he love the fan?” He asks Ryu, The Runner still in the first verses of “MVP Pt. 2“, collaboration with Major RD which is part of the setlist of SEMREH (FINAL SPRINT) — deluxe version of the disc released in early 2024.
Gambling, often promoted by influencers and internet personalities, has been increasingly questioned about the harm it can cause. For some, as in the case of Ryu and of Kaweapproaching this with a critical eye is a warning sign.
Ryu — who decided to release a version of the album to finish a narrative that began in the first version — mentions this type of game in two tracks, “MVP” and “MVP Pt. 2“. He explains that his objective was to “make fun of those who publish it,” but he considers it important to approach the subject seriously.
It has nothing to do with the artist, rapper, promoting a betting house, tiger, or any type of game of chance in which they are not winning because they are playing, but with the loss of fans, who click on their link and lose.
The artist considers it “bizarre” that artists who promote this type of platform are idolized. He questions the artists’ love for their fans when they take this type of attitude just for the money they make from such advertisements.
Ryu sees art – and especially rap – as a way to make people aware of this type of situation. “I write a verse speaking in a more mocking way, Veigh also, saying that the only tiger he likes is the one from Cereals. However, we raise a question,” he explains.
The artist hopes the message will serve to open fans’ minds about people who don’t care about their audience when associating themselves with gambling. “They just want more money, more money. They’re already rich and they still promote this stuff.”
“DissAposta” is the song of Kawe which addresses the topic of gambling and betting platforms. In the track released in mid-August, the rapper uses the diss format, a song with an explicitly critical background that is widely used in rap.
“Over time, people will pay more and more attention to diss, because it has a huge impact and it’s not just about a fight, or someone you want to attack, sometimes it can be used to talk about a subject that bothers you, which is what I did,” he explains.
Therefore, it will always be interesting to know what artists have to say when releasing a diss.
In his case, the speech is directed at people who have been “taken in by greed and lies, both for those who play and for those who promote” gambling. Kawe touches on a sensitive point: the addiction that this type of game can cause. He also says that he felt this firsthand. “I reached whoever needed to be reached with the message, and I hope that everything I did will be of some use to someone.”
Kawe wanted the track to serve as “a cry for attention.” The rapper hopes that people will be more aware of the seriousness of this problem. “They can no longer take it as something normal, and think that everything is fine. It’s not fine, people have already died because of this, and seeing the scale of the reach of these games, I can only see a catastrophic future for many people,” he concludes.
