The album Short n’ Sweetof Sabrina Carpenter was released today (23). One of the standout tracks, Tastehas already won a controversial clip that explores themes of revenge with a comedic touch, in addition to showing that Sabrina is experimenting with new styles and visual narratives.
With a “graphic violence” warning at the beginning, the video features a narrative full of dark humor, starring Sabrina herself and Jenna Ortega.
The clip is reminiscent of the style of films Quentin Tarantino and references the 1992 classic Death Becomes Herand shows the two actresses involved in a series of confrontations. The plot revolves around a love triangle, where the characters of Sabrina and Jenna compete for the love of a boyfriend, played by Rohan Campbellan actor also known for his role in the horror franchise Halloween.
Throughout the video, Ortega commits a series of “murders” against the singer, which include arson, amputation, among others. However, the exaggeration in the scenes makes the story comical; they even kiss at one point in the video after fighting so much.
In the end, the two end up making peace and leave their boyfriend’s funeral together, while drinking coffee and sharing impressions about him.
The album Short n’ Sweetalso includes the singles Please Please Pleaseand Espressoas well as unreleased tracks such as Sharpest Tools, Coincidence and Good Graces.
