As he prepares for his solo tour, the bassist gave clues about the band’s future; Guns N’ Roses’ last album was released in November 2008
2024 isn’t over yet, but fans of Guns N’ Roses may have one more reason to wait for next year. That’s because the band may bring news in 2025.
Currently, the group members are involved in personal and parallel projects.
The guitarist Slash turned his attention to the band Conspiratorswhich he commands alongside Myles Kennedy. In addition, he released his solo album in May Orgy Of The Damnedwith blues covers.
Another one who is busy is the bass player Duff McKaganwho will spend the next few months on tour as a solo artist.
But Guns N’ Roses fans have reason to hope for new releases in the future. And it was the musicians themselves who spoke about this possibility.
Guns back in the studio?
Bassist Duff McKagan returned to Guns N’ Roses in 2016, when they performed together for the first time since 1993.
Since then, the band has performed at shows and festivals, but has not given official details about a return to the studio.
Asked about the subject during an interview for the newspaper Irish ExaminerMcKagan gave a somewhat mysterious answer:
Who can say? We haven’t been in the studio.”
On the other hand, the bassist praised the work alongside Slash and the vocalist Axl Rose.
I love recording, I love the creative process. I love doing live shows, but I love that studio thing with Slash’s ideas, he always finds the right thing. And Axl is a fucking master.”
Other clues
Despite the mystery, McKagan has been more detailed on other recent occasions,
During participation in the podcast Trunk Nationthe bassist stated that the band was working on new material, but did not know exactly what the release would be like.
There’s definitely new material. I don’t know how we’re going to release it. I think that’s a question too. Like, do you put out a record? Do you keep releasing singles? I don’t know what the right answer is these days.”
Slash was also more direct when commenting on his work with Guns N’ Roses.
In May, the guitarist said the band “is trying to make their own record” (via Music News).
He also said that, despite being dedicated to personal projects, he is preparing other things for next year,
2025 will be all about Guns N’ Roses,” confirmed Slash.
The band’s latest studio album is Chinese Democracyreleased on November 23, 2008.
