Fatman Scoop died at the age of 53, the rapper’s agency, MN2S, confirmed in a post on social media. The musician, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III fainted during a show in Connecticut and was taken to the hospital this Friday, the 30th, but did not survive. The cause of death was not revealed.

Fatman Scoop became known for the 1999 hit “Be Faithful” and collaborations such as “Lose Control” with Missy Elliottand “It’s Like That”, with Mariah Carey. The song with Elliott earned him a Grammy nomination for best rap song, in addition to the award for the music video.

What happened

Lauren Garrettmayor of Hamden, Connecticut, confirmed on social media that the rapper was hospitalized on Friday, 30, after becoming ill on stage during a show at Town Center Park.

According to the TMZ (via People), police were called to the scene due to a medical emergency at 8:33 p.m. local time. Video published by the tabloid shows the musician receiving cardiac massage while still on stage.
