Halsey has officially announced the release date of her highly anticipated new album, The great imitatorThe singer’s fifth studio LP will be released on digital platforms on October 25. The revelation was made by Halsey in a post on X (formerly Twitter) last Wednesday (04).
The artist, who describes the album as a work produced “In the space between life and death“, expressed her excitement for the release, mentioning that she has waited a decade to share the project with her fans. In addition to the release date, Halsey also released the album’s main cover, which features a black-and-white close-up of the singer with rosy cheeks and a star sticker on her forehead.
The work is accompanied by a message that highlights the artist’s ability to transform and reinvent himself: “Come closer, ladies and gentlemen. Here is the wonder of an age. Witness the mysterious ability of a woman who can become anyone, anything her heart desires.” The announcement came at the end of an intriguing treasure hunt that involved the singer’s fans in a global search.
Halsey had hidden five time capsules in cities around the world, including London, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Sydney. Each capsule, themed to represent different decades, contained clues and variations of the album cover. The first capsule was found in an International Magic store in London, and clues for future cities will be released as the capsules are discovered.

Halsey one wonders if, in all these alternate timelines, she would still be the same person, facing the same challenges, such as illness and motherhood. The teaser includes excerpts from the single Luckywhich provides an interpolation of the success of Britney Spears with the same name, as well as other new songs, each inspired by the aesthetics and sounds of the aforementioned decades.
The concept of The great imitator seems to revolve around a deep exploration of identity and self-reflection, as evidenced by the final question in the trailer: “If it all ended now, is this the person you’d be proud to leave behind? Is this really you?” This question resonates as the central theme of the album, which is described as a confessional work.
