The residence of Billy Joel at the Garden may be over, but Piano Man continues to tour, booking stadium shows in collaboration with artists like Sting, Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewartwith whom he shared the stage on Friday night, the 13th in Cleveland.
Just like in previous shows with Sting and Nicknamesthere was some overlap between the two sets, with Stewart appearing on stage to play “Stay With Me” of the Faces with Joel and his band.
Joel had already played “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police and their own “Big Man on Mulberry Street” with Sting at one of these shows, while Joel and Nicknames collaborated in “Stop Dragging My Heart Around” and “And So It Goes” during their respective sets.
The Cleveland concert marked the first show of Joel in over a month, and only his second concert since bidding farewell to his long residency at Madison Square Garden in July, a performance highlighted by a special appearance by Axl Rose.
Joel will wrap up his 2024 touring obligations with a show later this month in St. Louis — the first of three more co-headlining shows with Sting this year — followed by a solo performance at Los Angeles’ new Intuit Dome on Oct. 12.
