During the interview that took place this Monday, September 16thChappell, 26, said she’s not so excited about the idea of taking home a Grammy.
I kind of hope I don’t win. Because then everyone will stop bugging me. ‘See, guys? We did everything and we didn’t win, so bye!’ I won’t have to go through that again!
I just want to make music, express myself and help people feel free. If that doesn’t include a Grammy, that’s okay too.
Chappell Roan, who won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) this month, has been standing out on the pop scene with her authentic approach. Her acceptance speech for the Moon Personas the VMA trophy is called, was read directly from her diary.

For the past 10 years, I have been on a steady pace to build my project, and it has come to a point where I need to draw boundaries and establish boundaries. I want to be an artist for a long, long time. I will not accept harassment of any kind just because I have chosen to follow this path.
