Singer Beto Bruno spoke about the presentation at Cine Jóia, which closes a 23-year chapter in national rock

According to Beto Bruno, the best show in the history of Rio Grande do Sul’s Cachorro Grande took place in February 2016, when they opened for the Rolling Stones. “But in Sao Paulo, the last one will be even better,” he says.
It refers to the presentation on August 5th, at Cine Jóia, when the band puts an end to the story they have been building since 1999, in Porto Alegre.
Beto Bruno, Marcelo Gross (guitar), Gabriel Azambuja (drums), Pedro Pelotas (keyboards) and Eduardo Barreto (bass) played what would have been their last performance in March this year, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Rio Grande do Sul capital.
“But São Paulo is the city that really turned us into a band,” says the singer of moving to São Paulo in 2004, where he never left.
Due to the pandemic, Gross, Azambuja and Pelotas have returned to the south.
And they took advantage of the starting point of the Rio Grande do Sul in March precisely to lengthen a line in the group’s curriculum with the show in Sao Paulo.
The repertoire will be the same.
just shots.
It starts with “Lunático”, ends with “You Don’t Know What Lost” and is filled with “Sincerely”, “Sexperienced”, “Que Loucura” and 15 other classics from the band. “It will be our first best of show,” says Beto.
Out of curiosity, I ask which concerts they will have to overcome, besides the opening of the Stones, to put the performance in Sao Paulo at the top of the band’s history.
“I would say that the second edition of Virada Cultural (2006), in Sao Paulo, the inauguration of Oasis (2009), also in Sao Paulo, and the one we did on the occasion of the Porto Alegre anniversary, which certainly entered the top five, “he says.
Counting that the score is 2 x 2 (two shows in Sao Paulo and two in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul), it will be an opportunity to break the tie.
Tickets are on sale on the Cine Jóia website.
