The country singer recorded “In Greece” while celebrating his birthday in Greece with a couple wanted by police
Singer Gusttavo Lima is about to release an acoustic album titled “In Greece”, which was recorded on a yacht in the region of Mykonos, Greece. The trip, which also marked the celebration of his birthday, ended up attracting the attention of Operation Integration, led by the Civil Police of Pernambuco. The arrest warrant for the compatriot was issued following the suspicion of having facilitated the escape of José André da Rocha Neto and Aislla Rocha, owners of the Vai de Bet betting company and wanted by the judges, who were traveling on the same plane that transported the singer to Greece. The route included the Goiânia-Athens-Kavala section on the outward journey and, after the start of Operation Integration, Kavala-Athens-Canary Islands-Goiânia on the return journey and without the spouses who were then considered fugitives.
“These signs reinforce the seriousness of the situation and the need for a thorough investigation,” said Judge Andrea Calado da Cruz on Monday (23/9) in her decision that led to the request for the singer’s arrest. The request was rejected the following day due to the lack of further evidence of the compatriot’s involvement in obstruction of justice. In addition, the Vai de Bet couple’s arrest warrant was also revoked.
The defense claims tranquility
Gustavo Lima’s defense stated that they received with “calm and a sense of justice” the decision of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco, which revoked the arrest warrant last Tuesday (24/9). “Gustavo Lima’s relationship with the companies under investigation was closely linked to the use of his image and derived from the sale of an airplane. Everything was done legally”, the defense guaranteed, explaining that all financial transactions were carried out in a regular and documented manner.
Measures to repair the damage
The singer’s lawyers announced that they are studying measures to repair the damage caused to Gustavo Lima’s image. “He has and has always had a clean life, dedicated to music and his fans. Legal action will be taken in due course,” they added in the statement.
Aircraft Seizure and Police Operation
Before the arrest warrant was issued, a plane registered to Balada Eventos, a company owned by Gusttavo Lima, was seized in Jundiaí, São Paulo, as part of the investigation by Operation Integration, which is investigating money laundering through illegal gambling. The plane was operated by JMJ Participações, whose owner is José André da Rocha Neto. Vai de Bet, a sponsor of Corinthians until June of this year, has Gusttavo Lima as its testimonial.
