Linkin Park have announced a show in Brazil: 11/15 in Sao Paulo. And the band arrives with controversy in its baggage. Emily Armstrong, the band’s new singer, has found herself at the center of a controversy regarding her relationship with figures linked to Scientology, especially after receiving criticism from Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala.

The conflict began when Armstrong, also known for her work with the band Dead Sara, was accused of supporting Danny Masterson, an actor recently convicted of rape and who is also a prominent member of the Church of Scientology. This call sparked great controversy, especially among fans of Linkin Park and the band The Mars Volta itself, whose singer publicly criticized Armstrong.

The Mars Volta singer has expressed concern about Scientology’s influence on public figures such as Armstrong, suggesting that his support for Masterson may reflect an adherence to the church’s ideology. It also raised questions about the impact of this on musical culture, especially a band like Linkin Park that has historically taken a stand against oppression and injustice.

Emily Armstrong responded, saying, “A few years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court hearing, and I went to a hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I wouldn’t I always try to see the good in people, and I have misjudged him ever since. Unimaginable details later emerged and he was found guilty.
