The South African singer has chosen Rio de Janeiro as the setting for her new video, involving Brazilian producer and dancers
Singer Tyla, star of Rock in Rio 2024, took advantage of her visit to the capital Rio de Janeiro to record a music video in Morro do Vidigal. The South African artist used her stay to establish a deeper relationship with Brazil and invited fans to participate in the recordings.
Production with Brazilian energy
The recording featured dancer Aline Maia, famous for her choreography of the hit “Tá OK”, by Dennis DJ and Kevin or Chris, which went viral on the Internet. In a video posted by Aline on Instagram, Tyla appears on a stage surrounded by fans, with Vidigal watching in the background, during a production that lasted about five hours.
According to the dancer, the video aims to capture the vibrant cultural energy of Brazil and the recording was handled by Malu Ávila. The producer published several behind-the-scenes details on her Instagram, saying she was happy and satisfied. “I want to thank the entire Tyla team who were amazing with me from start to finish,” she wrote.
The recordings accompanied a new song, with no known title, which was played throughout the work, indicating his first new release since the debut album.
Success at Rock in Rio
Tyla performed on Rock in Rio’s Sunset Stage on Friday (9/20), as part of Dia Delas, dedicated exclusively to female artists. In addition to her global hit “Water,” the singer performed songs like “Truth or Dare,” “ART,” and “Jump,” from her first album. The South African also paid homage to Brazilian funk, impressing the audience with her dance and rhythm.
