Conflict at live show results in pause in band activities after heated argument on stage

The band’s guitar technician Jane’s AddictionDan Cleary, recently shared isolated audio from the microphone of Perry Farrellcaptured during an incident in which the vocalist argued with the guitarist Dave Navarro on stage. The episode occurred during the band’s performance in September 2024 at Red Hat Amphitheater, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The video, published by Cleary on YouTube, includes a voiceover explaining the details of what happened. Cleary, who has worked with Jane’s Addiction for 17 years, revealed that the disagreement started because Farrell was in the “wrong place” on stage, which led to frustration and culminated in a fight. The captured audio shows Farrell’s voice visibly strained, as he shouted: “F*** these bastards. F*** them, f*** him”, referring to Navarro. Farrell then pushed Navarro during the performance.

Following the incident, the band decided to cancel the remaining tour dates, citing difficulties relating to Perry Farrell’s mental health. The vocalist later apologized for his behavior via an Instagram post:

After reflecting on what happened, it is only fair that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, my fans, family and friends for my behavior during Friday’s show.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Laualso spoke out, explaining that the singer was dealing with tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and a sore throat every night of the tour, made worse by the extremely high volume on stage. She highlighted that Farrell would be seeking treatment with specialists to take care of his vocal and hearing health.
